Homeward Bound
Tonight I am loading up my lil pregnant rollerskate (Ford Focus) with 1 hyperactive dog, 1 highstrung parrot, 1 eager boyfriend and 1 Lil Oregon Bug desperate for a vacation. I can’t WAIT to get out of dodge. We’re headed to my hometown in Oregon where my boyfriend will get to meet my family and see the place that I grew up. I hope he’s ready to jump into my world!
The problem with getting ready for vacation is that the work day is dragging. I had a conference call this morning and my coworkers were droning on and on about CAT5e cables and changing cable organization. Snooze fest! All I could think of were all of the things I need to do before I leave for our 8 hour drive.
We’re splitting up the drive which is nice; my generous man has opted to get us a hotel room along the way. I am definitely going to need the rest after the crazy long work week I’ve had. Plus the fact that I will be doing most of the driving since Dill doesn’t know how to drive a stick yet. I’m teaching him on the trip. What better roads to learn on then empty Oregon country roads? Oh yeah, and I’m taking Dill to the county fair. He is in for a culture shock beyond belief. YEEE HAWW.

How Do Celebrities Stay So Fit?

Sometimes I’m amazed by celebrities. You look at people like Jennifer Anniston or Meg Ryan and they look half their age. I don’t get it, how do they stay in such great shape? Are they really healthy? I’ve always wanted to talk to a celebrity and ask them if it’s easy or if it is a constant struggle. I feel like staying in shape for me is something I work hard at every day. It takes a lot of will power to say no to that fattening meal and stick to a fresh salad and veggies. I’m sure celebs probably have their secrets, or the money to have a cook make them yummy healthy meals and personal trainers to keep them in check.
I came across this site for Orovo which claims to not only help you lose weight but also fights acne and wrinkles. It seems like a lot for one pill to do. I do like that the ingredients are natural, such as garlic, wheatgrass, green tea, and other ingredients. I’m not sure I’m at the point where I want to take a weight loss supplement but if I ever do I would go for something natural like that. The fighting acne thing is kind of cool too, seeing as I’m still prone to the occasional breakout. I thought that was over when I stopped being a teenager for crying out loud!

My Roommate Situation

My lease is up in January, but for me that month could not get here sooner. It feels like it’s already been a very long year as far as roommates are concerned. My roommate has been interesting to say the least. In some ways she’s a perfect roommate, because she’s never home. Since we moved in together in January, she has slept in the apartment maybe 2 weeks. The rest of her time is spent with her boyfriend. At first it was  a bummer because the whole reason I moved in with someone was for the company. I was fine living alone, but I wanted to save money, and I wanted someone to hang out with after work. Upon getting to know the roommate however, I immediately became relieved to know she wouldn’t be home much. The term polar opposites comes to mind when I think of her.

When the roommate is home, it’s in a flurry of agitation and slamming doors, followed by abrupt and somewhat rude conversation. I don’t think she means to be this way, it’s just who she is. Dyl Pickle noticed it right away, and can’t stand her either, and most of my friends don’t even like being in the same room. Just a sense of bad energy flows from her. Bleck. She is always complaining about something, and will usually have a mean comment to say about my dog. As if she didn’t know she’d be living with a dog when we moved in together. I really don’t understand people who don’t like pets. My dog is the most well behaved lil mutt too, and who couldn’t love his face? He’s precious. When she comes home, she glares at him, and practically kicks him if he goes in for a pet.

So when our lease is up, it will be a happy day. Unfortunately, she will be taking quite a bit of furniture with her when she goes, including the couch. Right now she owes me the money for the brand new fancy leather couch she just had to have. I don’t see why she didn’t just get a used one off craigslist. The way they make slipcovers now they can look brand new. Plus, she’s never home to use it. It doesn’t make any sense to me. When she goes, I’ll have to look for a roommate, and a new couch among other things. Still, that will feel like a vacation compared to dealing with her.

Why am I Gaining Weight?!

Ok, I know that I’ve vented about this before, but I am just so so frustrated. I know I have a notoriously bad memory but I don’t remember it ever being this hard to get into shape. I work out five days a week. Count em’, FIVE. That in itself is insanity. Next, add the fact that I’ve never eaten as healthy as I do now. I snack on fruits and veggies, and lunches of salads, dinners of chicken or fish with a starch and a vegetable, and rarely a light dessert of fruit or soy ice cream. And yet I’m still struggling to button my jeans?!? What the F@$K?? Sorry guys, I just plain don’t get it. I’m going to try to count my calories, on the off chance that I might actually be not eating enough calories and forcing my body to hoard its calories. I personally think I’m just a genetic freak who is skinnier when she drinks her weight in alcohol and eats French fries than when she diets and exercises.

A Virgo’s Night In

Tonight I got to Virgo-ize my house. Dyl Pickle had to work late, so I had the house to myself. I was free to do what I call relaxing-clean and organize. I know, I think I’m completely insane too. So tonight I was able to do ab and butt crunches, print pictures for my living room frames, wash the dog, clean the bathroom, and organize my closet and dresser. I realized I am a pack rat when it comes to clothing. I hate shopping so I don’t like the idea of throwing anything away. I just keep it in the closet, and when I do eventually shop, I add to the mess or (admittedly color coordinated and arranged by cut and style) closet and then wonder why I have no room to put the clothes I actually wear. So I parted ways with some rather hideous articles of clothing.
I think for my next exciting evening in I plan on organizing my electronics. Lord knows as a techie I have far too many useless pieces of equipment that I don’t need.
I know my night sounds boring to most, but honestly it was a lot of fun, and just what I needed. Now I’m off to curl up in bed with a good book and some ice for my knee. Team in Training is still kicking my butt on a regular basis and I need to have a pain free knee for this weekend’s 8 mile run. Ugh.

Naming the Twins

Got this from my oh so mature boyfriend. Don’t you just love it? :-) Seriously love the names, I’m a huge muppet fan. Hehehe.

Your Boobies’ Names Are…

23 Days till Breaking Dawn!

As some of you may know, in the last few months I have literally become obsessed with the Twilight books. I bought the first three, and I pre-ordered the fourth and last of the series. For those of you who don’t know, the Twilight Series is about a young girl who falls in love with a vampire. It sounds kind of cheesy but these books are beautifully written. The way Stephanie Meyer describes Edward makes you fall in love with him. Each book has left me hanging, and I’m anxiously awaiting the final book in the series. I can’t tell you what the cliffhanger is, but I’m just hoping it happens, that’s all I’m gonna say. My good friend Crystal knows what I’m talking about. She got me hooked on this series and from opposite ends of the country we’ve been reading the books together and talking about them. They’re making a movie this December about the first book, and I can’t wait to see it! I think they did a great job of capturing the characters the way they were described in the books. Poor Pickle is going to get dragged to the theatre. He’s a lot like Edward in the fact that he says romantic things and he’s sweet to me. He teases me all the time about my vampire obsession but I don’t care. Check out this series and you’ll know what I’m talking about. Humina. That’s all I’m gonna say. Humminahhhh.

The New Business Scheme

So I’m finally back home and I couldn’t be happier. As much fun as family was, they wore me out big time. I’m sitting here at my desk about to fall asleep. It will be nice to get home and get some rest. Oh wait, I need to clean, do laundry, run for an hour, bathe the dog, organize, and then cook an amazing dinner for my wonderful Dyl Pickle for taking care of my pets while I was gone. Whew. Oh and then I also need to find some time in there to look presentable for when he comes over. I can do it! All I need is a little caffeine and the motivation.
Last night after taking me to a yummy mexican restaurant, Dyl and I went out for Gelato. It was a nice tasty treat and was perfect for the warm night we were having. It must have been 80 degrees in the shade. We walked along the new business center looking at all the empty businesses for rent. We got to talking about Dyl’s new business idea and how we really need to do some market research to get the ball rolling. I won’t say exactly what he wants to do. Don’t want anyone taking the idea now do we? ;-) I will say that it has to do with advertising which I know nothing about. But if we come up with a business plan and actually get something started, it could be a lot of fun. And who knows, we just might make some money. I of course plan to do the nerdy background work and be the arm candy. Hehe. Maybe just the arm candy. Sounds like it could be fun. ;-)

My Crazy Family Weekend

I’m up in Portland, OR visiting with my crazy family for the 4th of July weekend. I flew in last night and rode the public transportation with my grandparents to a restaurant downtown to meet the rest of the crew. Mind you, my grandmother has bright pink hair, so that plus our luggage we were quite the sight to behold trudging around downtown looking for the Greek Cusina Restaurant.
I got there and the place itself was like any other restaurant, low key, mellow, quiet. They led us to an upstairs part of the building and it was like walking into a club. Loud live Greek music playing, people dancing, and my huge loud family crowded around a table. There were my two aunts, two uncles, their spouses, my grandparents, and five of my cousins. We danced, we drank, chugged a liquor called Orzo (anise flavored and fantastic) and danced a traditional greek dance, and then threw plates screaming out OPAA! (Good luck in Greek apparently).
After the awesome dinner we headed down to the waterfront to watch the fireworks. Talk about an incredible show. It was non stop fireworks from all sides-they were lighting them off in three spots over the water, it was beautiful.
I came back to my aunts and promptly passed out. This morning I got up and went for a run with my uncle Bob. We didn’t bring our ipods which made the run seem a little longer, but it was nice to talk. Well, talk as much as I could in between wheezing breathes. I’m feeling a little more in shape but my knee gave me trouble so we only ran for half an hour. The hills kicked my butt!! Afterwards we got back to the house and he showed me some killer ab workouts. I can’t wait to go home and show them to Dyl Pickle so we can get abs of steel together.
Speaking of Dyl I am missing him like crazy. It’s so much fun here with the fam and I just wish he could be a part of it. Definitely taking him to the Greek Cusina so we can dance around and make asses of ourselves. But he’s at home taking care of my pup and birdie and it’s nice to know they’re in good hands. :-)
This afternoon I’ve played Rock Band where I found out despite being able to sing it’s a super hard game. We also hooked up the karaoke machine which I’m sure after a few drinks we’ll all get into. Tonight we’re going to a blues festival which should be a blasty.
Right now I’m hiding out and resting because I know it’s going to be a lonnnng night and I’m a bit of a grandma. Bed by 11? Not with this crew. I’ll be lucky if I see my pillow before 4am. I better go get some energy drink in me so I can hang with the big kids.

My New Phone

My work is notorious for spoiling me, and the latest toy they gave me is no exception. Our company recently switched our company cell phone plan, and now we’ve all got unlimited minutes and unlimited sms texts. I’m soo excited. Not only did I get a new blackberry curve but it came with Sprint TV and Sprint Navigation. All for free. I heart my job! The only flaw I can find with the new phone is the cell reception isn’t nearly as good as it used to be. I get choppy reception in some spots and it can be annoying. It makes me wish we could get a cell phone repeater for the company so we could hear each other better. But still, who can complain? I have a FREE cell phone with unlimited everything. Excuse me while I wipe my techie drool off my face.
